The wonderful world of the Open Access HelpdeskWorking on the helpdesk has its moments of surprise and delight.
A particularly star-struck requester felt that obtaining a copy of a journal article was “like getting one's idol's autograph”, from an author with “unmissable luminous presence” among the “rarefied living pantheon of renowned writers on private law”. Whilst some 14-year-olds seem to indulge in reading “various theses on mathematics, physics, and English literature” in their free time, others request copies of work in Apollo simply “to save lives”. Our research outputs are also sought after by a number of (highly) specialised groups and societies. Who knew that a Royal Commonwealth Society essay would be of interest to the Beef and Dairy Network Podcast Fan club? Find out more about the requests we receive in our blog post, What do you want, and why do you want it? An update on Request a Copy. |
