#librarylife
Back in September we were challenged by Cambridge University Library to post seven black and white photos of #librarylife. No humans, no explanations. These are the images we posted on @CamOpenAccess, only this time we can give a little more explanation (clockwise from top left):
Jigsaws: One of our “away from the desk” everyday activities - the puzzle table in the office always has one jigsaw begging to be completed. Around the globe: The OSC team has currently 18 members and shares an open plan office space with the Digital Services team in the University Library. The dots in the picture indicate the origins of all people who have worked on this floor space in the last three years. A microcosm of diversity! Catch Box: This throwable microphone came in handy during the Engaging Researchers in Good Data Management conference last year, where we shared ideas and good practices for creating and promoting effective research data management practices. Stationery: Our stationery cupboard is stacked with materials for interactive training activities. It is full of Post-Its in all shapes and colours, together with bells, building blocks and postcards! Building blocks: We like to have some fun when we deliver workshops. This picture shows a reproducibility exercise in which attendees attempt to reproduce the same outcome using the same set of instructions. Apollo cake: This launch party cake was baked to celebrate the 'go-live' of our institutional repository, Apollo, in OA Week 2016. The repository is thriving - in the past 12 months, 36% of all data downloads in the UK have been made from Apollo. The Publishing Trap: This board game is designed to introduce researchers to scholarly publishing. This photo shows the end of the game after a session run for Cambridge Librarians. Unsurprisingly, the OSC team won! |
